Rules for writing

So I've not been posting much recently, mostly as I've been focused on my awesome new job (Yay!)
But I have still been keeping busy, including keeping up with creative writing. This week one of the exercises was to very quickly write our 10 rules for writing, inspired by this article from the Guardian. https://www.theguardian.com/books/2010/feb/20/ten-rules-for-writing-fiction-part-one
So, with no further delay...
Steal shamelessly. It's only obvious to you.
Listen to audiobooks. Sometimes you find a lyricism that you missed when you read it.
If you're stuck, write anything, then edit.
If you hear a lyric, or a line, or a story, that really speaks to you, stop and wonder why.
The thesaurus is your friend.
Start by writing people you know into your stories. By the time the plot happens to them, they will be unrecognizable.
Constrain yourself, and see where it takes you.
If in doubt, write a joke
When it flows, don't stop. Don't ask yourself why you are in flow.
Don't complete a list with a meaningless addition for the sake of completeness.
